Ok what all do I need for a home recording studio? I’m setting up one of my rooms to record, I already have all the equipment to hook Instruments up to my computer, an Ok microphone, And about $200 dollars worth of music editing software on my computer. I don’t really need soundproof walls because my house is very quiet. What else do I need?

Three Stars: Sockets Records
Sockets Records first came across our radar due to, surprise surprise, an old Three Stars interview. This one . Then suddenly, they were everywhere. There were Sockets artists like Layne Garrett performing at the Sonic Circuits Festival . Then bands like Buildings and Imperial China put out releases under the Sockets imprint. Then they put on a showcase , selling out the Black Cat Mainstage and …

I have been using FL studio 4, the trial version, and want to now purchase a better program like it for music production. I would like it to have drum loops, instruments, and also be able to record my voice in it( instead of going to another program to record it)

I have heard things about ableton, mixcraft, reason, and cubase.

thanks
i would like to spend less than $100 on it

I am a singer/song writer who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. I want to make a demo soon, but am not sure where to record in LA. I don’t have much money, so I have to choose wisely. Do you think I could make a demo at home using Pro Tools that would sound just as professional as a semi-professional recording studio? Also, what is the best home recording device – would you say it’s still Pro Tools? Thanks

I have seen several articles that the music industry has stopped with filing law suits and have realized that illegal downloads are out there and won’t stop. Even the free ad based music download services they were offering to colleges to fight the illegal downloads have had to close their doors. I kind of felt all a long it would go this way, did you.
Yes they have stopped the law suits. If one is going on now then it was filed over two months ago, before they stopped filing.

When Steve Jobs returned to Apple from Pixar, he returned with a mission. He had already revolutionized computers, now he wanted to revolutionize something bigger, something which is not restricted to markets and numbers, something which has more to do with feelings than with business numbers. He launched iPod. And wasn’t he right? Most people still thank him for returning to Apple and giving them the best gadget they could have, the iPod. At first people didn’t buy the idea of storing over 1 GB of songs on a sleek gadget. When even bulky CD players couldn’t do it, how can the iPod do it? But when people got hold of the product, they were amazed by the capabilities of this trendy and the most compact gadget. Soon the Digital music player market was revolutionized. Here are five reasons why the iPod has not only revolutionized the Digital Music Player Market but overtaken it by far. 1. Lot of power in your pocket: Using and iPod frees the user from carrying bulky CD players, which are difficult to handle and also the storage capacity of such CD players is not much. So the user doesn’t have to change the CDs again and again. The music on the iPod can be downloaded from the internet so buying of CDs also becomes a redundant activity. iPod comes with free music software which allows the access to a plethora of music collection on line, which keeps on changing continuously. 2. More battery life: Since the iPod has Li ion batteries; they can be used for a longer period of time at a stretch, which is up to 16-24 hours. So once can listen to the music through out the journey. It can be charged very easily, iPod comes with a firewire cable which can be connected to any USB slot of any computer and within 4-5 hours the iPod gets charged again and ready for another 24 hour music play. 3. More song storage: The iPod has a storage capacity which ranges from 1 GB to 160GB. That means a lot of storage space. Most people don’t even have more than 4GB songs on their hard drive. So it is like carrying your entire music library in your pocket. Even if you don’t have enough songs on your hard drive then they can be easily purchased at a minimal cost online. 4. iPod fits the pocket: iPod is very economical and with the number of songs it can store, the cost per song for an iPod is very less as compared to other digital music players available in the market. 5. Better performer: The sound quality of the iPod is much better than its peers, it sounds balanced and soothing to the ear. It also supports a various music formats like MP3, AAC (including protected files), Audible, WAV, AIFF, and Apple Lossless. The files which are not supported can easily be converted to a format which is supported. So now you know why the iPod is the leader in the market, and with the level of innovation at Apple, one can expect the iPod to get better with time.
