“The Words I Love You” Irish singer Chris de Burgh said on Wednesday he had realised a lifelong dream by visiting Iran, expressing hope he would be the first Western pop star to perform in the Islamic republic since the 1979 revolution. The 59-year-old arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to examine the possibility of holding a series of concerts this autumn for Iranians, who are among his most faithful fans. “I can’t tell you what a great pleasure it is to be here. This has been my dream since I was a little boy,” the clearly delighted singer told a conference packed with domestic and foreign journalists in the Iranian capital. De Burgh has been invited by the Taraneh Sharghi music production company, whose leading pop band, Arian, has recorded a song called “The Words I Love You” with de Burgh in a mix of English and Persian. Arian in 1999 was the first Iranian pop band after the revolution to receive a permit to perform in public. All recordings and concerts in Iran require a permit from the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance to be legal. I was supposed to go to school this morning so I got up at 8, got ready then listened to some music. So why watching CHI CHI’s music video, the girls told me “Oppa~~~ please remix us”. I’m too weak when it comes to Korean girls calling me “oppa” so I skipped school and got down to work. After 12 hours of absolutely non-stop work here we’ve got the result. Musically the track is pretty simple. I really love the detuned lead and the bass reverbs (as you already know) but other than that there were not many stuff I wanted to do as the track sounded decent with the few sounds I’ve added so if it works why break it? I took video editing to the extremes in order to project the strong feeling I want to. This is a first for my remixes release at least to that extent. The whole video is completely messed up in order to tell the story the way I want it too. Like it or not that’s now my complete product and I personally like it a lot. Other than being me that I translated this song (usually I fetch the subs from somewhere to save time), the next big thing is of course the lyrical translation highlighting.
