Check out my progress here – soundcloud.com *** This is a cover of Radiohead’s “Morning Mr Magpie” from their album The King of Limbs (note, this is not the old version Thom played way back which I also covered and taught). This is also an example of music theory in action. Thom’s electric guitar part in From the Basement probably wouldn’t translate that well to a solo performance. This is my simple, but faithful reflection on the song’s most salient parts harmonically, rhythmically, and melodically speaking. This cover is a companion video to my tutorial here – www.youtube.com Tuning: CGCFAD (Drop C from D Standard) Enjoy!

Read description for my reponse to your feedback from episode 1. In this episode, my goals are to gather food and prepare materials for tomorrow’s light cave crawl, which I need to do to gather resources. Bare with me, as I proceed to say one thing and do another about 40 times =D Also, I completely forgot about that cave system from episode one. Oh well. ***** Feedback ***** I want to thank everyone for all the feedback I’ve been getting, especially the positive feedback =D, but the negative helps me improve too. So to ensure I’m not ignoring you, here’s an update: I’ve increased the mic volume and brightness for episodes 2+. I’ve already got episodes 1-5 filmed, and I can’t go back in time, but for episodes 6+ I’ve turned on view bobbing, cranked up the in-game brightness, and I’m investigating options for increasing framerate. Mainly, I’m looking into OptiFine so once they come out with a version for 1.8, I’m all over it. But if that doesn’t help, I’ll buy more memory and see if that does the trick. Keep in mind, creating a high quality LP requires knowledge of Minecraft, the internets, photoshop, music theory, sound mixing, voice, entertainment, cinematography, video editing, computer hardware, and financial backing. Admittedly, my weakest points are my knowledge of computer hardware and financial backing, but I assure you I am constantly working on it. Thanks again! ***** Music: Songs by C418 are, in order: – Minecraft – Moog City These songs and more are available …
”It is fitting that composer and pianist Fabrizio Paterlini was born and lives in the ancient northern Italian city of Mantua. A romantic and historically significant centre of musical and artistic excellence, the city’s elegance and cultural depth permeate Paterlini’s exquisite original solo piano compositions. Yet despite Mantua’s unavoidable influence in informing the composer’s work, his cinematic music is far from localized, or even recognizably Italian, instead tapping directly into universal human emotions. Listeners and critics alike are torn as to how best label Paterlini’s beautiful sound. Neo-classical, Ambient, Minimalist and New Age have all been considered, but it is more pertinent to note some of the adjectives regularly used in appreciation of his sonic palette. Ethereal, soulful, lush, emotive, dreamy, delicate and, tellingly, passionate, all appear with unerring frequency. The composer himself describes his work as “like a glass of red wine on a summer evening,” in awareness of the calming effect of his reflective melodies on the listener. Paterlini began playing piano at six-years-old. From the first moment he stroked the keys his life irrevocably changed, music becoming “a choice made every day…explored in all its aspects.” And so music and his life’s path became, and remain, inextricably linked; while he progresses as a musician and composer, so his development as a human being runs parallel. Formal study in his chosen artistic endeavour came with …
How to quickly create chords from any scale or mode. In this example I’ve entered the notes of the phrygiam mode and then very quickly extracted all the harmonic chords using Ableton’s folding technique. I could have used any scale or mode and generated the harmonic chords. Usuage: Lets say you have a melody in a particular key/scale/mode and you want to harmonize it with the correct chords…well once you understand the basic technique presented here it can be applied to all known scales and modes with very little music theory knowledge. My website www.chordengine.com has a full written tutorial as well as links for free useful utilties for improving your songwriting skills including the FREE nutchords utility which I’ve used in this tutorial for generating the Phrygian mode itself.
