Early life and first releases Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Deborah Mathers-Briggs and MarshallBruce Mathers, Jr.[11] Shortly after his birth, his father walked out, leaving his son. Until he was twelve, Marshall Mathers and his mother often moved between St. Joseph and Warren, Michigan, a Detroit suburb. As a teenager, Mathers became interested in hip hop, performing amateur raps at age fourteen under the pseudonym “M&M” and joining the group Soul Intent around 1995, when his first single was released.[1] Although a student of Lincoln High School in Warren, he frequently participated in freestyle battles at Osbourne High School across town,[12] gaining the approval of underground hip hop audiences.[1] After repeating the ninth grade three times due to truancy,[13] he dropped out of high school at age 17.[11] Since 1992, Mathers had been signed to FBT Productions, run by brothers Jeff and Mark Bass. Mathers also held a minimum-wage job of cooking and dishwashing at the restaurant Gilbert’s Lodge at St. Claire Shores for some time.[14] In 1996, his debut album Infinite, which was recorded at the Bassment, a recording studio owned by the Bass brothers, was released under their independent label Web Entertainment.[15] Eminem recalls: “Obviously, I was young and influenced by other artists, and I got a lot of feedback saying that I sounded like Nas and AZ. Infinite was me trying to figure out how I wanted my rap style to be, how I

“Ten Years Gone” is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin from their 1975 album Physical Graffiti. Originally intended to be an instrumental piece, Jimmy Page used some 14 guitar tracks to overdub the harmony section. Robert Plant later added lyrics, which are dedicated to an old girlfriend who, ten years earlier, had made him choose either her or his music. Plant explained in an interview in 1975: Let me tell you a little story behind the song ‘”Ten Years Gone” on our new album. I was working my ass off before joining Zeppelin. A lady I really dearly loved said, “Right. It’s me or your fans.” Not that I had fans, but I said, “I can’t stop, I’ve got to keep going.” She’s quite content these days, I imagine. She’s got a washing machine that works by itself and a little sports- car. We wouldn’t have anything to say anymore. I could probably relate to her, but she couldn’t relate to me. I’d be smiling too much. Ten years gone, I’m afraid. Anyway, there’s a gamble for you.[2] Some have speculated that this song was a variation of the never-released Led Zeppelin track “Swan Song”, the name they chose for their own record label. This is one of the few Led Zeppelin songs in which it is possible to hear the squeak of John Bonham’s bass drum pedal in the recording studio, the others being “Since I’ve Been Loving You” from 1970’s Led Zeppelin III, “The Ocean” from 1973’s Houses of the Holy, “Houses of the Holy” from 1975’s Physical Graffiti, and “Bonzo’s Montreux” from 1982’s

PLEASE NOTE: I divided my uploads between multiple channels, Bookmark this link in your browser for instant access to an index with links to all of John1948’s oldies classics. LINK: tinyurl.com One of the biggest teen idols of the late ’50s, Paul Anka moved to the adult sphere several years later and became a successful performer, songwriter, music businessman, and recording artist, remaining so well into the new millennium. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1941 to parents of Lebanese Christian descent who owned a local restaurant, Anka proved a child prodigy, beginning his show business life at the age of 12 as an impressionist. By the age of 14, he was stealing the family car to drive to amateur singing contests in nearby Hull, Quebec, and writing his own songs. His first single, “I Confess,” appeared on the Riviera subsidiary of Jules and Joe Bihari’s RPM label. While on a trip to New York with a group of friends who sang as the Rover Boys, Anka gained an audition with ABC producer Don Costa, and sang his own composition, “Diana,” an ode to a former babysitter. Costa liked what he heard, recorded the teenager, and watched as the single hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic later in 1957, eventually selling a reported ten million copies worldwide. Anka placed four songs in the Top 20 a year later, including “You Are My Destiny” and “Crazy Love,” tempering the all-out rebellion of rock & roll with songs that questioned parental authority rather than promoting outright

CLICK FOR HD/STEREO!: www.youtube.com Since I’ve been back home in Saskatoon for the summer, I’ve been really enjoying spending time with Esmeralda (my grand piano). Lately, I’ve been reviewing old pieces that I’ve done for recitals and exams and such, and it’s been fun going over these old pieces after letting them sit for a few years. Today I decided to do a test recording of my piano to see how well I could capture the brilliance of its sound with my equipment. What you’re hearing at the beginning of the video is me goofing around on the jazz standard “Someday My Prince Will Come”. It didn’t take long for me to find a sound I was happy with, so a few hours later, I decided to record the Harold Arlen/ EY Harburg classic “Over the Rainbow”. I learned this song 4 years ago when I did my Grade 9 Royal Conservatory Exam. It’s a beautiful jazz piano arrangement and I enjoy playing it so I thought “Why not?”. I hope you all enjoy listening to it. And please use headphones or good speakers. If you would like an .mp3 of either song just drop me a line (aka send me a message) I might try recording some other simple old favourites, as well as some complicated new tunes, covering many different genres so stay tuned! Ma armastan kasse, nad on lihtsalt nii lahedad! I recorded this as per usual with Logic Pro and a Presonus Firepod audio interface on my Macbook Pro. The 2 mics are a Neumann TLM 103 and an Apex 435 (only $70!!). Slight EQ, reverb, multipressing, compression and pan

annapurnaexperience.multiply.com Annapurna was formed in the process of continuing a collaborative effort by two Bacolod-born musicians, Djotay Soluta and Nonoy Alcalde. In 2006, Djotay and Nonoy, together with other Dumaguete and Bacolod-based musicians, staged in Dumaguete City a No-to-Violence Concert entitled Ahimsamismo. The musicians were then collectively named Monsoon Forest. After about a year, Nonoy (who resides in Manila) expressed desire to once more come up with a Monsoon Forest concert; unfortunately, staging a concert was no longer possible for the group. Instead, Djotay decided to relocate to Manila from Dumaguete City to set up a home recording studio so the two of them could work together on other musical projects. Both excitedly interacted with each other in an initial experimental project, which they dubbed The Annapurna Experience. Annapurna is the name of the tenth highest mountain peak in the Himalayas, which is believed to be the crown chakra of the Earth. It is the name of the goddess of abundance in Hindu as well. The first conceptual album under The Annapurna Experience is entitled Kundalini Rising. Music Genres: Electronica, psybient, ambient chill, downtempo, trance, annapurnic and world beat Instruments: Electric and acoustic guitars, Southeast Asian and African percussions, drums, bamboo flutes, faglong (2 strings lute guitar), synthesizer, ableton live program and vocals.
