I don’t think it will replace Pro Tools, but it will mean that a good alternative will exist, which can be just as bad (e. g. competition).

@Kicktess come on both of you guys, and all of y’all fighting. . . whats the sense in fighting and getting hyped about who’s gonna knock who the fuck out lol? Pro Tools has its advantages, and Reason/Records has its advantages. . . alotta producers I know in studios have Protools; but they have Reason slaved to it, cuz its good for fast beatmaking, and they use Protools to mix/record audio. I dl’d Record and I like the SSL emulation, the mixer is better than Protools but the latter has better plugins

gotta say been using reason a long time and its not just for the “bedroom guys” however, its these “bedroom guys” who actually turn out some of the hottest tracks in todays music world, but thats obvious. if you use record and reason correctly you don’t sound thin at all infact it creates radio quality sound in your “bedroom” and some of the biggest names in the biz use it. if you dont understand it just say its nice

@Exutus LOL you’re funny. . . like i said everybodys a tough guy over the internet. Whats all the insults for? you came into the discussion with insults so dont try that you insulted me first shit. . . you have no idea who i am and thats whats funny to me. . . , canadians. . think they are so tough til they get knocked the fuck out. .

@Exutus first off dipshit i never said you cant make good stuff with reason. I use reason everyday and have since the beginning so take that internet tough guy shit somewhere else junior. My thing is with record, especially in comparison to protools. . . no comparison in my opinion. and ive been all over the country to many different studios while you’re obviously just some young newb taken in by all their marketing strategies. . lol dont be mad ’cause i nailed the “bedroom guy ” statement

honestly ppl if you hang into it and give reason some time you can get stunning results.
Im definately gonna get Record. . . its just perfect for people who know how to deal with reason.
August 15th, 2010 at 9:31 pm
@locmcdog yeah and you can still rewire into your favorite DAW’s
August 15th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
reason is the ultimate beat maker in my opinion and now they have made another software that supports RECORDING VOCALS ! what more can u ask ? Easy/Power/Perfect

I just still dont believe any real seasoned engineer would use this for polished radio-ready songs. . . especially as opposed to using the pro gear/plugins they already have. This is CLEARY for the bedroom, beat making reason-using producers and engineers. . . . I’ve tried it and it has that same “thin” sound that Reason always had ( i luv Reason btw) and i just cant get with it. . . it is a cool program though but again in my opinion its geared more toward the “bedroom” guys. . . my 2 cents

Ok, I’m really curious about this software update, but how can you implement sub group channels on this mixer. Also I’m curious to know how the Record midi control differs from Reason’s. I’ve invested a lot in other software and midi controllers to use with PT and LP, so I would really like to see how this stands up when comparing sound quality and functionality. Reason is great for writing music, but is record really that much better for mixing. I see this more as a recording tool, hence record
