    Hi I just bought the io dock and I get a lot of feedback. I read that it’s a software problem. Is there a way to fix it?

  4. mickey5241 Says:

    @badog2010 i kinda like it this dry because many exaggerate with the reverb. . .

  5. SludgeRoach Says:

    Also a little room treatment will go a long way for your sound. . . . Maybe convert a closet to vocal booth?

  6. SludgeRoach Says:

    I think you should focus your camera on you instead of the mic, it would look a little nicer. What software did you use? Good stuff!

  7. badog2010 Says:

    u need some reverb

    @Luger718A1 Yes, you should buy a Mini if you have nothing at all. No, the iPad doesn’t replace a computer. It also doesn’t mean an iPad is useless, a poor value, or a waste of time. It has a place, and it’s still reasonably priced when coupled with the iOS Dock. There, happy!? You win at the Internet.

  9. polaris20 Says:

    @Luger718A1 Why is this even a topic? I replied to your comment about how you don’t get recording on an iPad. Nothing less, nothing more. I don’t give two shits about your rabbit hole justifications of when it does and doesn’t make sense. I don’t see anyone at Alesis or Apple saying this is going to replace a computer for DAW work, so why are you pontificating about it?

  10. Luger718A1 Says:

    @polaris20 so you cant agree on the fact that if someone only had a 700 dollar budget theyre not better off buying say a mac mini and going that route? i could see tablets competing with desktops in the future but right now the software and price/performance isnt there yet. . . . . . but then again having the ability to also play some temple run is tempting isnt it

  11. polaris20 Says:

    @Luger718A1 Either way this is a dumb argument. I disagree with you, I think it’s a good value, especially since the iPad is often used for a myriad of other things, and the quality for remote recording is now great too. Use what you like.

  12. Luger718A1 Says:

    @polaris20 if you would of been open minded and read my other comments you would of seen i said the same thing you said. . . . . if you already have a nice setup and can afford it by all means go for it, but if your just getting into recording those 700-800 bucks could be spent elsewhere and be a better investment in the long run

  13. polaris20 Says:

    @Luger718A1 You have the classic “it doesn’t work for me, therefore it doesn’t work for anyone” mentality. Try being less self-centered and more open-minded.

    Just because you can’t afford a tablet and a good computer doesn’t make it a poor choice for everyone. I can now have a more powerful desktop at home and a light tablet for casual stuff to carry out and about instead of a 6 pound laptop plus interface. It works well for me. If it doesn’t for you, then super. Don’t buy it.

  14. Luger718A1 Says:

    @polaris20 dump it into logic? cause having a decent logic machine is free right? 700 could be the difference between a beast and a pos logic machine. . . . at the pricepoint that its at CURRENTLY its a waste of cash and could go better invested somewhere else

  15. polaris20 Says:

    @Luger718A1 Seriously though, for $700 you get an iPad (that does more than just record, obviously) and the iO Dock, and it records in 24/48 to GarageBand. From there I can dump it to Logic and continue working on stuff. 15 years ago I paid more money for an 8-track to cassette from Tascam, and it sounded like crap by comparison. The power of what you can do in such a small size is pretty amazing. No, it’s not a Pro Tools rig. It’s not meant to be.

  16. polaris20 Says:

    @Luger718A1 See what happens is you put the iPad in the iO Dock, connect a microphone, and then record stuff. It’s pretty simple, actually. :)

    @Luger718A1

    Yeah not the alesis dock, I didn’t see how expensive that was, but otherwise an iPad is worth the investment, condsidering all it does on top of being high quality portable recording/editing equipment, it’s not expensive. But yeah it’s not cheap either

  18. Luger718A1 Says:

    @JosePerez1220 convenient/portable

    i wouldnt say its cheap ;)

  19. JosePerez1220 Says:

    @Luger718A1

    Cheap, convenient, portable

  20. frontmanmike Says:

    @Luger718A1 The ipad and this dock can easily be grabbed for less than 800. FYI, it works JUST fine with the iPad 1.

  21. Luger718A1 Says:

    @breadliner81 as it is now. . . in its young underpowered state i dont think its worth a 800+ dollar investement. . . . people are to obsessed with portability a MBP isnt that big. . . . but i do see what your trying to say in a few years tablets are going to have a good amount of power for more complicated apps even some that rival desktop apps. . . . i mean theres already tablets with quadcore processors in them.

  22. breadliner81 Says:

    @Luger718A1 Cont’ from below; And this technology is so young, give it three years and this post will be like an embarrassing picture you dont want your mom to show your new girl friend. I wont harp on and on but don’t you think this attitude is similar to what people said when digital recording was just a “neat idea” that could never work in a professional environment? Get hip before its to late. . . .

  23. breadliner81 Says:

    @Luger718A1, Continued from below; You can control your mix and edit windows, plugins, transport etc and it works for p-tools, logic, cubase, abelton and just about every other DAW out there. There is a constantly growing list of truly viable, functional, innovative and truly productive apps out there. If you use electronic devices in music don’t shoot your self in the foot Luger. 24. breadliner81 Says:

    @Luger718A1 “recording on an ipad. . . . i still dont get it” maybe in time you will. . . . . . I can’t understand what people don’t get about iPads and mobile touch devices used for creative expression and function. If you are already using a computer to record your music, then why is it so hard to see that touch devices are the next step in refining that process. Have you seen the” V control pro” app? what about the AC 7 core app. Man, Talk about saving some money, and time. Continued next reply
