This course does involve music composition, so you will definitely need to learn the notes of a keyboard and some chords. Guitar should really be a secondary thing, but do what you will.

it would help to have some keyboard skills.. but i don't think you need to, you record other peoples stuff? i'm doing it next year too (Y)
