@DJtelekinesis Also …
@DJtelekinesis Also they named it Steal This Album because they were that some demos were being pirated.

Not to start any …
Not to start any fights about it, but SOAD remained on their major label after releasing it, and plus the title of Steal This Album was based off of other projects (Steal This Book, Movie, etc.)… Basically Trent was much more sincere about his call to steal his music.

you realize, he’s …
you realize, he’s not the first to come right out and say it…wasn’t it system of a down, lol, named thier album, ’steal this album’ or some like that? lol

Trent Reznor = GOD

you think music is …
you think music is expensive just in australia? entertainment prices in general are through the roof across the world man. and supporting artists. artist’s get jack for their work through cd sales unless they are independent, or own all of the rights to their music instead of their label. the only people getting supported through music sales are the record label exec’s that already have enough money to buy three or four small european countries.

my hubby and I were …
my hubby and I were at that concert! I was not impressed at his advice to steal, but he has a point, prices are ridiculous.
April 6th, 2010 at 6:00 am
Lol… who in their …
Lol… who in their right mind would tell someone to steal something? Unless….

Agreed. The …
Agreed. The physical album is just as part of the experience as much as the music is.
Year Zero was a perfect example. I played the ARG as long as I could, which I found through the link hidden in both the liner notes and the phone number on the back of the CD case. Too bad I didn’t make it all the way to the secret show =(

@DvineINFEKT
Yes. …
@DvineINFEKT
Yes. You did. But so did I. It’s a dark tradeoff between supporting your favorite artists and supporting the bloodsuckers that run his/her shit. Though, bands tend to make most of their money from touring and merch, rather than album sales. I own all of NIN’s major releases, and some EPs too. I like having a hard copy. The physical album is every bit a part of the artist’s vision.

I know – copies of …
I know – copies of Year Zero there go for upwards of forty dollars. He thinks it’s bullshit, and I’m sure everyone else does too.
Gotta love Trent Reznor =]

He was specifically …
He was specifically aiming that at australia since they charged more for his CDs there, inpraportionally higher because his popularity is so high…

well, to be fair, I …
well, to be fair, I did buy most of them discounted – for example, I DO have the Closure VHS, BUT the original owner scarred the box. I’m not one to care much about condition, all I care about is the music. So while the average mint copy goes for at LEAST 60, I got mine for 10 bucks on Amazon.
In addition, ordering in quantity saves a shitload on shipping. ($2 flat rate per entire order saves a LOT more than I originally thought it would)
April 6th, 2010 at 6:00 am
what? i have spent …
what? i have spent over 270 dollars, and I’ve only got about 12, but i guess music is way more expensive in Norway …
but i agree with you, if you are a real fan, dowloaded files aren’t enough, you have to own the albums, then the music means more, it feels more valuable in away

The first NIN …
The first NIN concert I went to, fantastic.
April 6th, 2010 at 6:00 am
The fact that NIN …
The fact that NIN has always been so open about their music has in fact encouraged me to buy his CDs and to begin my own NIN collection – $150 later, I own the vast majority of the Halo and Seed Collections.
I still don’t regret buying them but does this mean I just fed the labels he hates, to support his music?
They were amazing in Chicago at Aragon btw if anyone was there ^^
April 6th, 2010 at 6:00 am
they own half the …
they own half the rights to basically all his cds except the ones under null corporation!

wouldn’t consider myself a fan, but he’s earned my respect with what he said

The Day The Whole …
The Day The Whole World Away = TDTWWA ?
the whole point is theres no such thing as a bad version, every time its played, every set up is different, the EAR synth they use will always give a slightly different feel, always beautiful.

i dont think TR is …
i dont think TR is associated with T4Salvation. the record label owns the rights to the fragile.

ha ha, not much of a NIN fan, but his little speech at the beginning is awesome. I even used it in a paper I wrote.

That would be amazing!
I’ll see the movie either way though. And admit it: so will you. Right?
April 6th, 2010 at 6:00 am
that could be the …
that could be the only reason that i go to see that movie, with the chance that NIN does some of the soundtrack
