It’s not my favorite kind of music at all, but I appreciated his way of picturing the final mix. He has a very spacial vision of mixing. Other engineers tend to focus more on color and texture, and of course the ideal mix would combine those two visions. Everybody wants to achieve the perfect mix, but that is simply impossible, because it is subjective. I learned quite a bit though.

I’m just discovering how useful it can be in creating ‘musical’ sounding dynamics without over-using your compressors.
