Native Instruments presents: The fourth winner of the Guitar Rig Hero contest 2008! ****** Name: Yves Custeau Located: St-Francois-Xavier-de-Brompton, QC, Canada Musical influences: Malmsteen, Vai, Metallica, Gilmour, Petrucci and a lot more. Background: Self-taught multi-instrument musician for 18 years now, I’ve been involved in the Eastern Townships’ music scene as a musician, soundman and teacher. I also have my studio where I lay down ideas and have 100 songs to date. In 2006, I ranked 3rd place in Montreal’s Guitar Hero(!) battle among 60 guitarists (real guitarists, not the game!) and, in 2000, won 1st place at Victoriaville’s Bud Rock guitar battle.       I think that the Competition was about use of the Rig Itself. I don’t think that the Skill of the player playing the instrument was involved in the judging. But if it was, This guy should have seriously taken the cake.

      This guy is a great player. . . . but the sweep arppegio thing is getting a little played out. After learning how to sweep decently, I quit practicing it simply because it’s over used in music like dragonforce, and has essentially become a type of guitar masturbation to most who do learn to sweep. However, I’ll give him points because he only did a couple of times. Overall, I’d give this guy a 7 out of 10. Great player (better than me). . . but not very original. But this contest wasn’t about skill.

      qc people should’ve won (either him or david meshow)
      hes fucking handling a malmsteen fender strats and actually playing a song compare to that dude who played each instrument for less than 10 sec, i mean how can u judge him with 10 sec of demonstration compare to him/david who made a 3-4 min song that they composed and wrote
      this is fucking #1 though, no doubt, jaymee look like a noob compare to him
