I’m going to a Cirque du Soleil show soon and am going to record the music. I was wondering what recording device is small and can record up to 80 minutes of music in multiplle formats (MP3, WAV etc..) with decent quality. I’m looking for something not too expensive. Thanks.
Audio launches here usually mean the screening of 2-3 songs from a film and then talking, lots of talking followed finally by the release of the music. With Veppam- the team decided to play without any rules! The musicians, singers, technicians and actors of the film were invited for an unplugged/jam session at the office which was shot by Gautham himself. The one hour video included cosy tete a tete sessions with the actors and the music director followed by performances by the singers. Benny Dayal, Karthik, Suzanne, Apoorva, Shwetha brought so much energy into their performances, that everyone present was singing along! This video was played for the special invitees at the audio launch. It was the first of its kind and was very well received. Since then, the songs have gone onto become hugely popular Nadunisi Naaygal is the first real psychological thriller in the Tamil language since the 1978 Bharathiraja directed ‘Sigappu Rojakkal’ starring Kamal Hassan. Nadunisi Naaygal is a 2 hour film minus songs that revolves around the antagonist/protagonist Veera (played by Veera) and his traumatic journey through life until one fateful night which brings him face to face with the other characters in the film. Nadunisi Naaygal is not so much a horror film as it is the process of the unraveling of Veera’s mind over that one night; and the various implications it has on the other characters. While being completely experimental in terms of both content and its style of filmmaking …
Released 28/04/1989 (back when fuel was only 52.5 cents per litre) this is “Simple Man” by Australian rock act “Noiseworks”. Written & composed by the band members themselves it was the 3rd single from their second album “Touch” and reached #47 on the Australian Aria charts. © CBS Productions Limited Noiseworks are an Australian rock band that formed in Sydney in 1985. The original line up of Noiseworks was Jon Stevens (lead vocals), Stuart Fraser (guitar), Steve Balbi(bass), Justin Stanley (keyboards) and Kevin Nicol (drums). Considered to be one of Australia’s more successful rock bands of the late 1980s, their self-titled debut in 1987 had a series of successful singles, such as “No Lies,” “Take Me Back,” and “Welcome to the World.” The album went on to sell more than 200000 copies in Australia. The band’s second album, 1988’s Touch, proved to be another big hit going Top 10 on debut. The hit singles included “Touch,” “Voice Of Reason” and “In My Youth”. Noiseworks disbanded in 1992, shortly after the release of the group’s third album, Love Versus Money (1991) which included such singles as “Hot Chilli Woman” and “Freedom”. Stevens has forged a somewhat unsuccessful solo career since Noiseworks with the albums “Are U Satisfied” , “Circle” , “Ain’t No Life For The Faint Hearted” and “The Works.” Jon had a brief stint as lead singer of INXS, but left after becoming frustrated with the band’s lack of progress in generating new material. Steve Balbi and Justin Stanley …
Directed by “Kimble Rendall” this is “Careless” by renowned Australian Folk/Rock act “Paul Kelly And The Messengers”. After a line up change, new producer (Scott Litt) and subsequent group renaming (previously “Paul Kelly And The Coloured Girls”), “Careless” was the second single from their 1989 album “So Much Water So Close To Home”. Rather surprisingly this beautiful song only reached #92 on the Australian Aria charts, although the album faired much better by peaking at #10 on the album charts. Paul Maurice Kelly (born 13 January 1955 in Adelaide, South Australia) is an Australian singer-songwriter and is recognized as an icon of Australian rock music as a member of the ARIA Hall of Fame. Taken from his 1991 album “Rush Street” and featuring “Luther Vandross” this is “Keep Coming Back” by “Richard Marx”. Produced & written by Richard himself the single reached as high as #12 on the US charts in that same year. Personally it was a track that I had not heard much of until working on the clip & remastering the audio, during which time I have grown to love the song and develop a deeper appreciation of this mans talents. Rush Street is an album by Richard Marx, released in 1991. “Hazard” reached a high of 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and “Chains Around My Heart” also went to #9 on US AC charts. Marx admitted in 2001 that the track “Superstar” is about pop star Madonna. Taken from their debut self titled album this is “Blue” by UK outfit the “Fine Young Cannibals”. The album “Fine Young Cannibals” was released back in 1985. The success of their UK #8 debut single “Johnny Come Home” did not continue with the next single, “Blue”, which languished at #41 in the UK. The version of “Blue” found on the compact disc is not the same version found on the original cassette (and LP, presumably).
