From what I hear from playing, fellow guitarists look down on distortion, and pretty much everything in the rock industry.

Ex: they can manipulate their male audience by having sex appeal in their music videos and music itself.

I am looking to move to the LA area and wanted to attend school there at UCLA. Since they don’t have a specific degree in music business I wanted to sign up for Marketing. My thoughts were that marketing would have a lot of qualities that recording firms would be interested to have in their A&R representative.

Any help would be appreciated.

i’m getting my undergraduate degrees next year in two completely unrelated fields (psychology and economics). i’d like to do something along the lines of music editing. would i have to start all over again and get a different undergraduate degree? or is it likely for me to get into a master’s program (i know, a lot are very difficult to get into)?

I’d like to have some kind of job working with music, such as helping to produce it or that type of thing. What sort of college degree would I need to get into that field?

Usually great music comes out of a recession. In this case it’s quite the opposite. Listen to Boom Boom Pow, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, this new terrible act Kesha. Stop drinking the Kool Aid people. None of these people play instruments and if they do it’s not in the music. Obviously this isn’t a blog, but am I the only one?

I’m having a little bit of trouble finding colleges that offer this. I find colleges that have just music for musicians, but I want the business end of it.

What should i do to make people listen to my music? Myspace? and stuff ? what should i do?

I’m 31 I’m a rapper, singer ,songwriter,producer and I’ve been doing this music for 10 years plus and I’ve been feeling like what’s the use anymore. I feel too old and everyones telling me I need to move to atlanta because that’s where the music is. Somebody give me some advice please because I’m very interested in hearing it.
